Security Level 4 - Medium Vandalism
When used as a rock guard screen, the Top Hinged Steel NarrowLine Security Screen is the perfect choice. The tubular steel frame with an extruded aluminum faceplate compliments your windows. Stainless steel wire cloth or steel perforated panels can be used as an infill. Emergency egress is accomplished with 2 spring-loaded slide/lock bolts. Our automated powder coatings can match your window frame color.
When used in conjunction with a curtain wall or aluminum storefront system, the Top Hinged Steel NarrowLine fits nicely. If the screen is fixed in place, we will supply perimeter-mounting angles, which will be finished in the same color as the screen. The installation screws for the screen will be tamper resistant. The perfect combination for those medium vandalism type installations. Security Level 5 - Heavy Vandalism
The Steel NarrowLine Security Screen, was specifically designed for the public school market, to provide a non-institutional look. Notice the screens on the first floor and roof access windows.
The narrow 2 7/16" sightline makes the screen appear as part of the window system. The mainframe is hinged to allow maintenance access and easy egress. All operable screens are supplied with an Emergency Release.
The heart of the screen is the 16 gauge steel tube, assembled with structural corners. The wire cloth is hemmed 180 degrees and fastened to the steel tube. The wire cloth can withstand thrown baseballs, bricks, bottles and impulsive vandals.
The Steel NarrowLine Security Screen can conform to any architectural detail. As you can see, the Steel NarrowLine installs around the curved surface of the glass block atrium. The screens are operable and can be opened from the interior for emergency egress. The Hunter Green color of the security screen frames matches the window frames for a uniform, architectural look.
Look closely at the sightline, it's very narrow and appears as part of the window system. When two or more screens are installed in one opening, Kane provides a mullion-fitting piece. Some installations require a custom mullion, like the opening above, which Kane will fabricate.
As you can see visibility is not a problem. Over 70% of the available light is transmitted through the stainless steel wire cloth. In fact the tree that you see through two windows, two security screens and across a gym floor is about a block and half away!
The Little School House projects in Philadelphia, PA, wanted the screens installed in a non-conventional way to simulate children's building blocks. The Steel NarrowLine Security Screens were oversized and face mounted on the exterior of the building. A custom powder coating was applied to pick up the blue accent color of the window frames and the brick. Over 50,000 Steel NarrowLine Security Screens have been installed in public schools across the United States. Now you can see why the Steel NarrowLine Security Screen is the screen of choice for Public Schools. Security Level 6 - Medium Security
Inner city street level windows are very prone to vandalism and forced entry. Kane recommends the Steel or Aluminum Van-Guard® series. The mainframes are more robust than the NarrowLine and use detention type hardware.
Kane screens are used to protect windows on the playground. The screens are not institutional looking, but actually enhance the overall appearance of the building.
Kane can supply air conditioner boxes, to deter theft of the a/c unit, as seen on these Steel Van-Guard® screens, on the second floor of this New York City school. Security Level 9 - Maximum Barrier Security
Kane recommends using the Steel Operating Vantage Wall® for those extreme security situations. The screen frames are 13 gauge galvannealed steel. 1/4" woven steel rods, with 2" open space are used for the infill. The rods are welded to the mainframe. This is the same product that we use in prison environments.
Custom colors enhance the appearance of the screen. When detailed with square building tiles, the screens blend with the architecture. |
