KANE SCREENS ARE CERTIFIED

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in conjunction with the Screen Manufacturers Association (SMA) has developed a testing and certification program to insure security screens meet certain minimum standards. For Security Level 5 and above, the screen should meet the following performance tests to qualify as a HUD "HEAVY" Security Screen.

IMPACT TEST
- Resist 100 ft.lbs. of force without stretching the infill more than 3 inches and without tearing the screen cloth at any point.

FORCED ENTRY TEST
- Resist a prying load of 150 lbs. and simultaneous pulling load of 300 lbs. Without springing the lock or bending the frame.

SAG TEST
- Resist 90 lbs. of weight on the open screen with no more than .063 inch sag in the mainframe.

The tests are performed by an independent testing laboratory and certified by an agency such as the National Accreditation Management Institute. By requiring security screens to pass the HUD "HEAVY" Security Screen test, you can be assured that the specified screen will provide a high level of security.
