The Crime Shield® Security Barrier provides exterior high security while complimenting the buildings architecture. The "Patented Framing System" encapsulates the barrier panel, preventing intrusion by pry bars and screwdrivers. The perforated steel infill panel lets in the maximum amount of light.

Maintaining the character of the university's architecture is an important issue on many campuses. At a minimum no one wants their campus to have a "fortress" look. With a sightline of only 3 1/2", the Crime Shield® barrier accents the window, provides high security and minimizes the visual impact of an exterior mounted barrier.

The Crime Shield® barrier is mounted on the ground floor of residence halls to deter vandalism and keep intruders out of the building. The barrier frame can be coated with a custom powder coat finish to match the window system.

In some cases the historic characteristics of the building are so distinctive that an exterior mounted barrier must not detract from the architecture of the building. The Steel NarrowLine Security Screen provides a solution to this problem. The narrow 2 7/16" sightline and black coated infill render the screen almost invisible from the exterior.

The Steel NarrowLine Security Screen is installed on all first floor rooms. The screen crossbar is aligned with the meeting rail of the window. Emergency egress hardware is mounted on the interior, so the student can exit the room quickly in case of an emergency.

Securing university owned off campus housing is becoming an important issue. Typically this type of housing is not your two story brick building, but a residential house, usually two or three stories, with a fire escape. You are dealing with aluminum siding, storm windows and a myriad of other details not associated with campus housing. The Steel NarrowLine can be configured to accommodate any type of installation detail.

The Steel NarrowLine Security Screen is installed around an exterior storm window. The storm window protrudes past the siding. The security screen subframe is attached to a perimeter-mounting angle to elevate the screen past the window frame.

Protecting students in high rise residence halls is becoming a major concern on campus. Littering the campus with debris or even using the window as another door (seven stories up) can become a liability issue. On some campuses insect screen replacement may cost upwards of $30,000 per year. The fixed frame Steel NarrowLine security screen can be placed over the operable portion of a double hung or slider type window on the interior.

The stainless steel wire cloth infill replaces the insect screening. The window can be opened for ventilation, while keeping the students secure. The ideal solution for high rise residence halls.
